What happens when Jesus returns? Christians throughout church history have agreed on the certainty of Christ’s return and the ultimate triumph of His kingdom, yet they have not always agreed on how the biblical promises concerning His future reign will be fulfilled. One of the most important areas of discussion centers on the millennial kingdom described in Revelation 20.
Understanding these different perspectives is helpful because our view of the future shapes how we understand the kingdom of God, the return of Christ, and the direction of history. Rather than simply adopting a position because it is familiar, we should understand what each view teaches and carefully examine the Scriptures for ourselves.

Whatever position we ultimately embrace, our hope is centered in the same glorious reality: Jesus Christ is returning, His enemies will be defeated, and His kingdom will ultimately fill the earth. Understanding the different views can help us read the prophetic Scriptures more carefully and deepen our expectation for the day when the King returns.
