The Present Kingdom

The present kingdom is the reign of the enthroned Christ breaking into this age through the power of the Holy Spirit. This began at Pentecost, when the risen King poured out the Spirit and empowered His church to continue His mission—proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and demonstrating it with power. Pentecost was never meant to be an optional experience for a few especially spiritual believers. It is God’s blueprint for a Spirit-empowered church sent to carry the mission of Jesus to the nations. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit baptized the church with power. This baptism is a post-conversion empowerment and a kingdom event—the moment the risen Christ placed His mantle upon the church, equipping His people as a holy army in the day of God’s power. Clothed with power from on high, the church is called to continue the ministry of Jesus: preaching the kingdom, healing the sick, casting out demons, making disciples, and bearing witness to the reign of the King.
