Passion for Jesus and Intimacy with Him
The greatest commandment—to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind—is the foundation of the Christian life. Even a strong church like Ephesus can lose its first love, showing that activity, doctrine, and ministry cannot replace devotion to Jesus. True alignment to God’s eternal purpose begins by restoring first love to first place, because everything else—mission, obedience, holiness, and ministry—flows from intimacy with Him. God desires not just servants, but lovers with undivided affection. This love cannot be produced by effort; it must be received from God. We love Him because He first loved us, and as His love is revealed—especially through the cross and the Spirit—it ignites real passion within us. This leads to true intimacy, where you experience ongoing fellowship with God. In a distracted world, believers must move from union with Christ into communion, choosing, like Mary, the “one thing necessary”—deep relationship with Jesus.
